Random stitchy update!

Its weird.

OK, so that is a weird way to start a post, but it is weird.

The 'it' I am talking about is my reluctance to write a 30th post and to complete the challenge...I know I need to do it, but...I guess I am not ready to end it all. I must do this today so we can all draw a line under it, hehe.

In other news, I had made the decision which was helped, in no small way, by doing this challenge to try and have a blogging schedule and a stitching rota.

The blogging schedule is really a way to keep me on track, I know that it is possible for me to write everyday and I really should but I just find some other excuse, and it really doesn't have to be a long amount of time. I thought about this a lot during the last weeks and had decided that Mondays I would post on something craft/stitch related, Wednesdays would be writing challenges, and Fridays would be anything I liked. It seemed like a good plan to have. These would be must do posts and anything extra would be exactly that 'extra'. Then something happened which I have taken as a sign from the universe that I should definitely write something and it was that one of my favourite writing challenges had been started up again, only thing is its on a Monday. Already that messes up my initial plan...aagh! Anyhoo, I have decided to wing it, that's right! Stick to my usual style and blog as and when...*sigh*...

Here is one of my Monday Mixer pieces (the ideas is to use some of the 9 words that are provided by the host):

“Hindsight is a beautiful thing” sighed Archie, one shandygaff too many and he went from a recluse to a revolutionary.
The alcohol fuelling his passion led him to protract the inevitable results of insobriety in the most tortuous of methods for those present. Having clambered atop a nearby fence, bottle in hand, he dropped his trousers to gain attention and began reciting his panacea interspersed with profanities. Coming under obloquy only served to incite him more as he took a gambol along the fence.  Regardless of his mingy manhood on display, he felt invincible both physically and mentally, believing he alone could verbally flense the government. He was sure of his nascent, and less sure of his footing as his arms flailed to grab air and he fell onto the unreceptive concrete pavement.

“Hindsight is a beautiful thing” sighed Archie as he lay staring up at the stars above him.

The stitching rota came about because I stitched on Faery 66 and then put her down to stitch on the sampler and was going to continue to stitch on that until IHSW, but Keebs said she was missing Faery 66 so I decided to alternate weeks. Thus my new stitching rota will be to swap projects every 7 days....

So, here is the sampler before:

And here is where I stopped and will pick up again from in 5 days:

As you can see I have opted for a creamy colour in the middle there as I am still working on making it blend together ok.

And Faery which I started on again on Sunday evening was here:

And I stitched again last night (and will do till next Sunday) is here today:

As you can see I am making steady progress.

I am apprehensive about the forehead but on close examination of the final image it actually looks about right, I am just curious as to how far away from this I will need to stand for it to look good! lol

I am hoping to have finished these pages by the end of this rotation so fingers crossed that works out! Then I have to choose whats next?? Back to the sampler? or a new start?

UPDATE: I just remembered I have that Frozen pic to stitch for Ebony! A little under 8 weeks...and yesterday she was talking about how I was stitching her something for her birthday from Frozen, because she likes Frozen and she likes watching me stitching....eek!

  1. "The best laid plans . . "! The universe will just never co-operate with our plans, no matter what we do. Looks like you are going to be doing a 3 piece rotation instead of two. Very nice progress on both pieces - loving the colours in the sampler.

  2. I have questioned every single HAED I've ever done because of the colors and it always works out in the end. Since every HAED I've ever finished has been a JBG, trust me on this...my little Highland girl? She has green and blue in her hair. It drove me nuts to stitch it, but you can't even tell unless you're looking for it (and then they are still hard to find) and I don't think that it would look right if they weren't there. Right now, I'm having issues with Rapunzel and Aurora's coloring in Alice and the B's...but I do have faith, albeit it questionable faith.

I was just thinking to myself last night (as I was stitching on Rapunzel incidentally) that you'd better get started on the Frozen project or you'd be in trouble!

  3. Oh, and I have to completely agree with Bea about planning...nothing screws up my plans faster than a plan!

    1. Haha -yes, what plan?! lol I constantly remind myself that HAEDs are deceptive and am persevering...maybe once this top half is complete I will feel better about it.

  5. Yikes! Good luck getting on with Frozen. And if you feel the need to switch out projects maybe take a break from it with either piece when you need to?
