A to Z Challenge: Letter A

This year I have set myself a stitching project, I have to do it as its a birthday gift for someone in May! I had convinced myself that it started on Monday but no, it starts today! I will try not to forget...and most importantly...get stitching!

Anyhoo...today is the letter A...oh...the theme? It slipped my mind, I have a tendency to think you all know and are inside my head, doh!

The theme is the arcade game Bubble Bobble, and each letter will be represented by a character or item from the game that the player needs to collect. What I like about it,is all the bright colours and what I don't like is the fact that I will be stitching it on black even weave, although admittedly, it does make the colours pop even more.

I won't be writing much about them each day as I shall be focussed on the stitches...but it will definitely be a challenge!

Today is an item from the game, an Aubergine. One of these will get you 20 points.

Top 5 Tuesdays #12 Top 5 Film related charts

Hi Guys!

I do love films, all sorts, and yet I do not have any film related charts in my stash...oh wait! thats a lie...I do have one, and it is the stitch that I did for my niece of the Frozen sisters.

This wasn't for me though, and I have decided to go off in search of film charts that I would love to have hanging on my wall or in a pillow or something...so now for some me choices....so selfish :)

Top 5 Tuesdays #11 *Free Choice*

This weeks theme was *Free Choice* and I am interested to check out what everyone has opted for.

This week has been pretty hectic, which is no excuse, but has led to me posting this late, so apologies!

Anyhoo, I have decided to choose my Top 5 WIPs that I want to finish by the end of the Summer, so that's plenty of time surely what with it only being Spring.

I do have a two week holiday where I may not get to stitch, and throughout April I will be stitching on my challenge piece, and sprinkled in amongst that are a few days when I will be studying etc.

So in no particular order....

Afternoon in Paris - Country Cottage Needleworks

Ram Flower - Prairie Moon

Rejoice Tree Ornament - M Designs

Winter Alphabet - Lizzie Kate

Japanese Fans - Joan Elliott, Oriental Odyssey Book. (I have actually stitched a little of the fan to the left too.
Make sure to check out everyone elses!

Top 5 Tuesday #10 Time related stitches

Hey!

So this week I chose time, and have been looking at clock face charts specifically. Why? because I love cross stitch and I love finished items but I am hard to convince about everyday items that are adorned with cross stitch...are they to chintzy and twee? I am not convinced they are but I am also not convinced they aren't either...so here are a few that I like...that pass my litmus test of cross stitched clock faces...hahahhahaha

I like this and i'm ont sure why, its pretty cute and it makes me laugh to think what they are looking at, the chart is pretty expensive though, but still, its not bad!

I do like bee iconography and this is a nice stylish design , that would definitely fit well into m y french kitchen (when i get it!). I would leave out the text though.

I have never watched Dr.Who BUT I think this is actually a pretty cool idea to stitch for a fan of the show.

I have included this as its a square clock face, and although its not my favourite flower, I do know so…

Top 5 Tuesday #6 : Top 5 Animal themed charts

1. I am totally addicted to Durene Jones designs and it wasn't hard to find one in her etsy store with an animal theme :) How cute right? Not to mention she often has charts in the cross stitch magazines too that are equally to die for.

2. Jayne Netley Mayhew has a lot of books out with animal themes and I have a couple of them. There is something about her designs that are realistic but not photographic and I like that attribute. Here is just one of many awesome charts...

3. I an a fan of the silhouette designs. Here is a lovely one, i like the mixture of animals and the lovely fabric it is stitched on.

4. It will come as no surprise after seeing the above silhouette that I also like tribal designs like this elephant.
And at number 5....

Fractal animal lion!

What are your favourite charts?

Top Five Tuesday #3 - Romantic charts

Hey there

This week I have decided to pick 'romantic charts' as the theme. I know some people don't 'do' valentines or aren't particularly bothered by romance and for those people please feel free to interpret romance in your own way.

So here goes...

1. February in my Durene Jones calendar and I will stitch on the first of February and quite possibly tweak it a little as I did with January.

2. This is a quote from Jane Austen, it make me laugh because i believe it to be such a hilarious notion...but its still a little romantic and I am using it to represent all book/film quotes about love.

3.Cover Art. I saw this and although I would never stitch it, I would hang it in my house, why? because its super cheesy and would always bring a smile to my face.

4. Wedding designs, generally I am never really convinced and find them a little twee, i know i know, i do realise i just said number 3 above, but when it comes to wedding designs I prefer the more modern and simpl…

Top 5 Tuesdays Theme Announcement

Hi Everyone,

Apologies for the delay and I hope you will still participate...I shall be posting my list later today.

So when I was thinking of a theme for this week it happened to coincide with thinking about my annual holiday and where that would be. I'm in a strange place right now as I've no place calling my name...hmmm...but anyway, the theme is....

Top 5 Travel Charts
This can either be directly related to travel, or linked to a destination, or anything suitably obscure if you can provide a link.

Sunday update and Top 5 Tuesday theme for this week #1

Happy Sunday everyone :)

I have made  little more progress on QS HNE...

and I have actually stitched  little more than shown above, but not much. So lets see what this week will bring.

I was given  Dolls house kit for Christmas, its the Classical Georgian House and basement and you have to build it and decorate it all yourself, so that is another project that you may see the occasional update on (or at least read about) and I may ask questions!

I've also recently discovered there is a magazine about Crime TV dramas - the perfect stitchy accompaniment - and the new series of 'Endeavour' begins today so with that in mind, the first Top Five Tuesday theme of 2017 is...

Top 5 TV detectives
If you do decide to take part then please drop me a comment on Tuesday so I will come take a look at your choices :)
Till Tuesday then....happy stitching xx

Stitching the Night Away...

Hey Everyone,

So how are you settling into the new year?

I started off quite well stitchy wise...I bought a magazine last year and it had a free Durene Jones calendar, and I decided I would stitch the motifs throughout this year as they are quick stitches.

This is January's design....

I decided to tweak it so it was more me...but is a nice quick stitch and I am hopeful that I will be able to complete the rest throughout the year. Here is my doggy (I have not yet added the snowflakes or shadows).

After this I began another new start...QS Hear no Evil by Jasmine Beckett Griffith and as you can see my nights progress is not much...

I say night because that is when I have a chance to stitch and in October I started a Facebook group called 'Stitching the Night Away', there are only 7 of us so far but feel free to request to join and I will add you :)

I have not yet made a list of my goals for this year or even this month but Sunday's update will hopefully be more enlighteni…

Happy New Year!

Hello,

Its been way too long! I have so much I never told you all and I kept telling myself I would get to blog next week or the next week and it never happened and that was when I decided to just wait, have a blogging vacation (my first since I started really) and start afresh in January.

I have still been stitching though, but all my other bits and bobs not so much, but I have such great plans (at least to me they seem that way) for 2017 and will remain optimistic.

My first steps are to write myself some decent lists! As you fellow creatives know there are about a thousand ideas swimming around inside my head and choosing what to focus on is hard for me, i've never been great at picking one thing and working solely on that without distraction. Variety has always been my friend.

What I can tell you is that I somehow need to manage my time more effectively, as I have stitching targets/projects I would like to do, a brand new dollshouse project, I want to write again this year as I…

Quick update and a looooong post to follow!

So I meant to post this before I hopped on a plane to Holland but my timing wasn't great (not a huge surprise) and so it's belated but here it is... Where I got to by the end of July...

First up I had mentioned stitching a Game of Thrones sigil design and have subsequently began watching game of thrones reruns and have to say I am enjoying it so far, but I'm only on episode seven of season one.
I took the piece to then framers and was originally thinking black and the framer agreed with me, then I saw a frame I fell for an thought would be much better and even though the framer thought it was too much, I went with my gut. I decided that the simplicity of the design afforded some flourish in the frame. Here is how it looks..,

And a close up of the frame... Next I think I said I was starting the HAED challenge three...and I did...I started on one of Aimee Stewart's bookshelves but I had gone by the magic guide squares and one of the rules was to only go ten down...and I…

HAEDs, parking and me.

Howdy folks!

Where do I begin? Well, I started my Game of Thrones quick stitch design with the 8 motifs. Yet more stitching in black but luckily I don’t mind that so much. I have one motif left and I was supposed to stitch that yesterday…I didn’t…I should have as I need to get it to the framers asap, but I just wasn’t feeling it, maybe because it is so close to being finished? I don’t know. I do like it and I think the framing will elevate it and make it a nice gift. Here is my progress;

So what did I do last night? Did I stitch more black on Gandalf? No. I should have although I am thinking of making that my travelling stitch pattern as I will be away at the end of the month and I could take it to Holland to stitch on when my niece has gone to sleep.

I did stitch though....

I started the HAED challenge #3, although I love he lion design and need to buy that, I decided to start on the Treasure Hunt Bookshelf by Aimee Stewart (Large format) gifted to me by my bestie Keebs.

I chose this o…
