So I have decided to join a SAL for Christmas Ornie's, the first needs to be completed by the end of August so I have plenty of time (famous last words!).
It is being hosted by Kaye at Kitten Stitching and if you want to join in the fun then click on the badge on the left sidebar.
Kaye has suggested some themes (other than the general Christmas theme) to see us through till December...
THEMES FOR 2015
In preparation for this challenge I searched online for some official free designs and picked those that I thought I might stitch (I really should make this a pinterest board!) and was all ready for the list and to have to go on a bit of a search....
Well, I picked up a book that I bought last Christmas and found the perfect Christmas Ornie set that will cover all the themes above. This wouldnt have happened if I had expected it to be that easy.
The book in question is...Joan Elliott's Christmas Cross-Stitch Treasures...
I have almost all of Joan Elliotts books, there is just something about her designs that I love, I have however only stitched one Joan Elliott design and that was the Geisha...
So let me introduce you to the Christmas Roly-polies!
As you may have noticed there are five months and six ornaments and so I am going to attempt both Mr & Mrs Claus by the end of August.
August - Mr and Mrs Santa
September - Bear with Present
October - Angel
November - Snowman
December - Penguin
These are stitched on plastic canvas and backed with sticky backed felt. I have not yet decided if I will do them on plastic canvas (its not my favourite medium) and may opt for a higher count fabric instead.
To those of you who are also taking part I look forward to seeing what you will stitch and a Merry Christmas!! What?! Too soon?
Oh my.....how adorable!!!!
ReplyDeleteVery cute choices! I'm going to have to wait until January to join. Although I have a Mrs. Claus in my CJC to finish.... Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to you joining in January...when I will be in search of new patterns! A mrs claus?? you do...maybe she can come out to play at the next IHSW?
DeleteThose are pretty darn cute and I'm not a Christmas person! I'll be rootin for ya and it's nice to have your stitch mojo back! I missed it!
ReplyDeleteHehe...its great but EXTREMELY distracting...when i am not stitching i want to be stitching and when I am stitching I am thinkinng about other things that need some stitching...heheheh...but I am enjoying it :)
DeleteGreat choices and how terrific that you have your patterns all lined up. I haven't started looking for mine yet.
ReplyDeleteI had started looking but was undecided, was thinking how i liked a bell design and a wreath with some cardinals on (both free designs) and then this book caught my eye when I was changing the shelves over...and once I saw them I couldnt unsee them. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what you decide to go for.
DeleteOh my they are so.cute. i love her designs as well and thoroughly enjoy working on them. I have only finish a couple o her small ornaments from a book she made.
ReplyDeleteI am behind on stitching Santa this month but as it takes a day to do I really don't have an excuse!
