Day 3: If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

Image result for teaching

For me there are two ways of answering this question,

  1. What am I qualified in and could teach?
  2. What do I enjoy doing that I would love to teach?
To answer the first interpretation, I have a degree in Physics and have in my distant past taught maths and physics at a secondary school in West Africa (High School) and I did enjoy it to an extent. I would never teach here in the UK, it would be a nightmare, but I imagine if you were teaching students who wanted to learn it may be rewarding. I used to like marking best and timetabling (as I was in charge of that) and as many bad days were met with good.

The second one...hmmm...let me see now...I can be quite patient, and would like to teach crafts but probably would enjoy doing arts and crafts projects with primary school children (age 4-8) a opposed to adults and such. However, if I could teach anything, I think English as a foreign language would appeal to me the most and I have toyed with doing a course in the past, so who knows!

What about you? Are you or were you a teacher? What would you like to teach?

  1. I did teach English as a Second Language for a while, as a community volunteer. It was hard, but when your student mastered something, it was such a rewarding moment.

  2. I used to play teacher when we played school, but I would probably only want to teach young children how to skate or something like that.

  3. Being French, I think I could cope with teaching the language to some very willing clever students :) Would love to teach primary school girls to cross stitch, that would definitely be fun & rewarding!!

    1. I taught my niece and it was fun. Maybe you could combine French conversation with cross stitch! Hehe no challenge too big?!

  4. I used to help a small group of children with their times tables as a volunteer helper in a Primary School, then I was a High School Librarian.
In most of my jobs I have had to show people how to do various parts of the job which I quite enjoy. Most recently I have taught someone how to cash up at the end of the week.
I wouldn't want to teach cross stitch because I have my own way of doing things which differs to some conventions and I'd be annoyed if they didn't want to do it my way!
