Christmas Ornie SAL 2015

Hello!

So I have decided to join a SAL for Christmas Ornie's, the first needs to be completed by the end of August so I have plenty of time (famous last words!).

It is being hosted by Kaye at Kitten Stitching and if you want to join in the fun then click on the badge on the left sidebar.

Kaye has suggested some themes (other than the general Christmas theme) to see us through till December...

THEMES FOR 2015

August - Mr and/or Mrs Santa
September - Christmas Tree/Presents
October - Angels/Nativity
November - Snowflakes/ Snowman/Wintry scene
December - free choice

In preparation for this challenge I searched online for some official free designs and picked those that I thought I might stitch (I really should make this a pinterest board!) and was all ready for the list and to have to go on a bit of a search....

Well, I picked up a book that I bought last Christmas and found the perfect Christmas Ornie set that will cover all the themes above. This wouldnt have happened if I had expected it to be that easy.

The book in question is...Joan Elliott's Christmas Cross-Stitch Treasures...

I have almost all of Joan Elliotts books, there is just something about her designs that I love, I have however only stitched one Joan Elliott design and that was the Geisha...

So let me introduce you to the Christmas Roly-polies!

As you may have noticed there are five months and six ornaments and so I am going to attempt both Mr & Mrs Claus by the end of August.

August - Mr and Mrs Santa
September - Bear with Present
October - Angel
November - Snowman
December - Penguin

These are stitched on plastic canvas and backed with sticky backed felt. I have not yet decided if I will do them on plastic canvas (its not my favourite medium) and may opt for a higher count fabric instead.

To those of you who are also taking part I look forward to seeing what you will stitch and a Merry Christmas!! What?! Too soon?

    1. I had started looking but was undecided, was thinking how i liked a bell design and a wreath with some cardinals on (both free designs) and then this book caught my eye when I was changing the shelves over...and once I saw them I couldnt unsee them. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what you decide to go for.
