New Start #1 for 50th Year Challenge

Good Morning!

Yesterday, I started the first new start. Originally I had planned a small Halloween Freebie or an Advent Chart but I don't ever set these things in stone as I know what I am like and so decided to go with the flow.

I have all the projects so far in a single cube that you would put into an Ikea Kallax unit. I have the charts in a folder that holds 100, and the fabric is labelled with the corresponding number and is either folded or rolled. In the box is also a zip bag of the kits on my list.

In the morning there was a news story about the Japanese Sumo Wrestlers who had arrived in the UK for the Grand Sumo Championship which was being held at the Royal Alber Hall in London and so I took this as a sign to start the chart I had of Sumo poses.

I had been attracted to this chart after watching a couple of TV dramas from Asia where Wrestling was the main characters sport of choice, one was a man (Korean wrestling Kdrama) and the other a woman (Sumo wrestling Jdrama). I am really fascinated with the sport now and seeing the chart I thought it looked pretty straight forward and a quick stitch.

Challenge New Start Number: 1

Chart Name: Japan Sumo

Designer: 361 patterns

Source: Etsy

Threads: DMC/Anchor/CXC (2 over 1)

I started this with the outline and it was much bigger than I expected, I should have placed something next to it before I took the progress picture but it is about 5" in height and 4" wide per stance.

I have not finished the outline completely yet as there are more lines on the clothing, and I have gone wrong. To unpick or not to unpick only time will tell and I think when the others are on there it won't be as obvious.

So with my new starts, the plan is to start a new one on the designated day (the next being the 18th October) and in between either carry on with what I am stitching if I am that way inclined, or pick up an existing WIP. I am planning to pick up a WIP but not sure which (I have about 25 which I have been working on for what seems like forever, mainly because I need to be inspired by it to stitch on it).
