Top 10 Halloween Costumes (#11)

OH MY GOSH!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS TUESDAY TODAY!!!!

I do sincerely apologise for my inability to keep track of days of the week. I just looked at the October schedule and thought, I need to post the November one...and saw October 27th...I thought, why is that the 27th, did I get the date wrong...NOOOOOO!

I am so dense this week.

I spent this morning thinking about whether or not to post a post about stuff and weirdly came across a post on Facebook about Wil Wheatons latest post which was oddly reminiscent of my non-existent post that i was thinking of posting.....and breathe.....

So...lets get back on track....a day late and a whole heap sorry...I give to you...

Top 10 Scary Books/Films (#10)

Top 10 Scary Movies/Books!

This is pretty tough...why oh why did I think it wouldn't be? I am actually scared of scary films and thats because when I was a wee young thing I watched a film, you may of heard of it....

1. Poltergeist

Yes, this movie ruined me for all and any scary movies that may have followed! I think since then the closest I get to scary are thrillers. So I should probably end the list here, right? Well....I did start to read a book once....it was something called...

2. The Exorcist

I am struggling now to remember if I read it and I don't believe I did - ha! I listened to an abridged radio version. I will hold my hands up that I am one of the Radio 3 listeners and you can get some great comedies and dramas on the radio. Being scared to watch the movie of The Exorcist due to its reputation, I opted to listen to the story - maybe it was somehow loosely based on the Exorcist, it wasn't that scary.

3. Young 80

Now most will know that this is a story that I wrote (under my pen name Marjie Myers) and I am not saying it should be in the Top 10 for that reason or that it is the scariest thing ever, but it is a book and it is scary. Its scary to me to think that when I wrote that story, I was happy and healthy and without Rheumatoid Arthritis and yet 18 months later, I felt trapped in my own body, unable to move. THAT scares me....was it a premonition?

So I still have seven more to mention...and zero films or books from my personal collection to include...so here are seven of the top recommended scary films and TV and maybe just maybe in the next seven months I can read/watch them?

oh wait!

I have seen this....

4. Halloween

I saw this a long time ago and yes it was scary, a fortnight ago I agreed to meet a friend for lunch but wasn't sure which direction she would be coming from and wanted to find out so I could meet her part way, so I messaged her and pressed send...about a second later she said Hi! I yelped and nearly jumped out of my skin and in the process terrified the three passers by who had me screaming in the ear! Joy :) So, anything jumping out is a no-no.

OK, so back to other peoples lists.....

5. The Shining

Starring Jack Nicholson...well i do like his voice...

6. Human Centipede

The very thought of what this movie is about makes me gag so...yeah...nightmares abound...and just...NOOOOO! How can people watch this stuff? **SHUDDER**

7. The Turn of the screw by Henry James

Its on my list to read but i'm such a chicken I am scared by the title! eek!

8. The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by H.P. Lovecraft

I've never read the cult phenomenon that is H.P.Lovecraft, maybe I haven't lived, maybe I have! What did you think?

9. Medusa

Now, I have included this although I didn't read it or watch it, we learnt about Medusa when I was about 6 and it gave me NIGHTMARES....and may be the reason that I hate snakes now, I just remember having a horrible Medusa nightmare, then waking p and just being able to see snakes everywhere, all over the bed, all over the floor and all over my sister  (who I shared a room with at the time!). Yeah.....must listen to some disney before bed now.

The last one is a film that I thought that I should watch but I can't get more than 20 minutes through it without it creeping me the hell out...at number ten we have....

10. A clockwork orange

Phew! I survived this list just in time for bed....lights on...teddy bear to snuggle...hot cocoa and sleeping tablets :) Sweet dreams!

October has begun! Update

Hi there!

So it's October already, how did that happen?

I have to admit that I am looking forward to stitching my Christmas Ornament this month and will be starting that when I finish work today :)

The job that I started five weeks ago now is going well, the people are nice, the work is interesting and I am hoping that it will provide me with some challenges. I have been making an effort every day to leave the house looking my best, it's not a requirement for the job and it's very informal so dress is not specified, but I have found that it puts me in a better mood and I feel better when I make the effort and people are treating me differently a little. I wouldn't have believed it but it's true! So I intend to carry on because I am actually enjoying my new found confidence.

That being said I had a moment yesterday, one that some of you may also have had, and it was so embarrassing!

On Tuesday night I had quite a steamy dream about a former colleague, he still works within the organisation, but I have changed departments. Now, he is friendly and well mannered, about 10 years younger than me, and in the two years we worked together we probably said a total of twenty words to one another. Then yesterday, the day after the steamy dream, I was returning to my office after lunch and saw him heading towards me on the same path. I smirked to myself and expected the usual, a smile, a head tilt, eyebrow raise, non-verbal acknowledgement. What I got was not that!

He stopped and started talking to me, opening with, "I didn't realise that was your last week until you were gone!", I smiled and chatted about what had happened and asked about how it was going over there, he said he was really glad that I was back, which was nice and we parted ways. So basically, we said more to each other then that ever before. Funny how that is sometimes, right? But the point of this story is that the whole time he was talking, I was trying not to blush! It was as if he knew what we had been up to the night before or rather the dream version of him and it was that level of awkwardness. I was still cringing for about fifteen minutes after the event! Doh! I have to be careful who I have steamy dreams about now.

In other news, I have decided to visit Manchester for my birthday, and the three days that follow. I have been before but I never really got to visit any of the great architectural buildings there and so that is my plan. I don't know anyone in Manchester and I guess spending my birthday alone may sound a bit sad but I am hoping that it won't be! I will have some stitching to do!

And finally, I am booking tickets this week for the stitching show at Birmingham NEC, it's in November I think....or December...but the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) has lots of halls that run events at the same time. It is really easy to get to for me and I like going there. As well as a stitching show they are having an Art show and a Cake Show, well my mother is the painter and my sister the baker so I am hoping to drag them both along! Are you going?

I also have to decide about nanowrimo plans, will you be taking part, do you want to be cheer buddies?

I hope you all have something fun planned for the month too!

Challenge 39: Watch 50 stand up shows (DVD or LIVE)

So I have been keeping notes on all my challenges and updating as and when something happens to move towards that goal, this is the notes fo...
