Day 1: When was the last time you tried something new?

Hey there,

I have tasked myself with writing more, and I think writing about anything and everything will help inspire me for my stories.

I wasn't sure what to write but then I came across a blog about 365 questions, I am guessing this is one a day for a year starting on January 1st but I am going against the grain and starting it today. This list was done way back in 2011 would you believe, and I am not going to tackle them in numeric order, but hop about a bit. I am also going to include some random fun questions that i have scooped up around the webiverse.

The questions I found are quite varied and hopefully will help me get to know you all a little better, as I would love for you to put your response to the question in the comments.

So today's question (is the first question on the list)...

When was the last time you tried something new? Hmmm, this is a good question. I like to try new things even if its just to learn that I don't like them. My mind instantly goes to le…

Tuesday Truths: At the Copa CaCairo!

Untitled Document Its another Tuesday :D
Last week we (I) discussed the issue of value focussing mainly on self-worth and the impact of social media on how you asses that.
This week I thought you might want less rant and more truth but as there are no prompts today I have to find my own prompt (as I did last week) and here goes...Twitsperation.
Its 9am and I have asked for prompts..a mere five minutes...as I am an impatient fool otherwise I will be hijacking the first tweet at 9.06am...

Can you understand me?

I thought that it would be remiss of me to let this day, February 29th, pass without blogging. After all, it will be another four years until I can do so again.  So what exactly is there for me to talk about…well, honestly I’m not too sure…I am always reading that the best thing to write about is something you know, and all I know is that I don’t know too much. But that makes for a boring blog so lets talk about accents.
Where are you from? Do you think you have a strong accent? Do people tell you that you do? If you could sound like anyone, w ho would it be? Obviously we are all perfectly happy sounding as completely fabulous as we do as ourselves, we would be us otherwise but if you had to pick? Is there an accent that for one reason or another you find annoying? Are you good at accents?

I was recently given a book on ‘How to talk southern’ from another blogger and friend (who is southern). It is referring to talking with an accent like those from the southern states of America.  Now…

Who is up for some more dancing?

Morning,

On my last post we danced the night away because I had received a beautiful tree pillow in the Santa exchange that I done with Tiki.

Well, today she has posted that she has received my exchange! I am pleased as I was starting to worry that it wouldn't arrive.

The design i used was taken from a cross stitch cards magazine but I changed the colours (used the ones I had) and made it more sparkly.  I didn't opt for Christmas fabric as I have none in my stash (its shameful, I know) but I fond some that I thought was a rich enough colour.  I am happy with how it came out but obviously wish it was a lot better but all things I have learnt for next time! providing I do another one - it was hard to get an exchange partner this time. So if anyone would be interested in doing one in the new year then drop me a line :)

So, without further ado I will show you some photos I took before sending and if you like you can pop over to Tiki Stitches and see her photos.

On a not so happy note..…

First past the post!

Morning All!

Did you like my horsey reference? No, me neither but it was the only one I could think of. ha!

The other day I responded to a question on Chris' Blog about my favourite part of stitching.  My answer was the backstitch. It is my favourite part BUT it is also my least favourite part. It always seems to take so long (is that just me?) and I am never convinced that it is right - it kind of looks messy as you do it. But once its done and you step back  - Yep! It really brings out the picture.

Last night at five minutes to midnight (GMT) I finished the backstitch. One horse down and one to go! Today I wont be stitching as I have to sort out my friends advent calendar - I put it in a safe place.....so safe in fact that even I cant find it! They will be disappointed if I cant find it so I will have to search everywhere (AGAIN).  I am also going to my friends for a girls night and they have requested that I take Hotter or Notter (my hottie game), I haven't updated the picture…

My prizes and princesses!

I just pressed buy now on my computer! It appears that I have just bought two more books!

Scandinavian needlework and Made in France....

I really really really really really must have needed them :)

On another note the prize that I won in Donna's giveaway arrived.  Luckily it didn't have to come too far :)

I have spent most of today at my nieces christening and have arrived home to a lovely package.  My sister expresses her craftiness in cake making and she made her daughters christening cake....

Each smoke cloud coming from the train has a letter of her name in silver, she is called Ebony and here she is..

She has two older sisters, Layla (5) and Naomi (2) and here they are...
And here are some pics of my giveaway prizes...

I am a very happy bunny today :), and don't forget to put your name down for the stitch St nick exchange (deadline Sunday!)

Stitch St Nick Exchange

Hello!
I hope everyone has had a good week, I really do have to put my knitting needles down and read some blogs - but whilst I am motivated I need to seize the opportunity.
On a cross stitch related note...I mentioned amongst other things that I hoped to do a Christmas exchange after enjoying my first exchange (with Sara) so much.  I hope some of you will join us! I am happy to just have an exchange with one other person, but the more the merrier. At the moment, it is me and Tiki :) It is Tiki's first exchange and she has suggested Santa themed items. Which is fine with me.  So who else is going to join us....come on...you know you want to!
I have never organised one before and I am not sure what the usual rules are but my only rules are: You must post your item by the 1st December (that way there is a chance we will all get ours in time for Christmas). It must be Santa themed. You mustn't post photo's of it until the person has received it.If for some reason you have to drop o…

What a birthday!

Hi!

Today was my birthday :) and I have had a good week and a great day.  I am very happy.  I met up with different friends through the week and was so lucky that by yesterday I had 10 cards waiting for me :), then today I had some more too.  Here is a pic....

I also had some craft themed gifts...one was a cross stitch kit..

and some HobbyCraft vouchers (guess where I am going tomorrow?).

I spent today in Oxford (I had never been before) and we had a great time, the town is nice and the weather was so mild.  But the company was definitely the best! One of my friends also gave me this book...I was smiling a lot today.
Two of my fave designs in this book are....the white rabbit...

and the envelope cushion case...

I cant stop flicking through the pages.  As I have spent all day out it means I have to have my yummy thorntons chocolate cake tomorrow!

Sadly, I haven't done any stitching but I did by some cushion covers that I can sew on at a bargain price and will try and get stitching tomorrow…

I've got POST!!!

This morning my little parcel arrived from Sara with her Lizzie Kate exchange piece inside!  What can I say?  Its absolutely gorgeous and I love it.  It is so tiny too - mine is massive in comparison - and very delicate and lush.  She  also sent me a postcard that she made (and posted about on her blog) and two skeins of variegated thread! And such beautiful colour choices too.

I wasn't going to post until I had finished a little piece I started yesterday evening but I just couldn't wait to let you all see how lovely our exchange has been :), thank you Sara for making it a wonderful experience.

So all this week I have hardly picked up my needle due to the realisation of an oversized pile of WIPs.  I have spent the week however with two needles (knitting). I have only made one very small thing (a Christmas tree and pot) which needs finishing but I am all out of stuffing. I really just practiced casting on and adding stitches etc.  As after all, practice makes perfect!

Then last ni…

Can you help me prepare for Christmas :)

If anyone has had the chance and has seen my Crafty-to-do list page and been interested enough to read any of it - admittedly it is quite long! There is an item on the list about updating the 'hotter or notter' game. One part of this is updating the pictures of hot actors. We have our usual suspects who will always make an appearance, but we are always on the lookout for hot new talent. So I am asking you to help me by recommending the top 3 hotties you would have!

PLEASE NOTE: I am COMPLETELY aware of how shallow this is but its got to be done, its not ME its my friends! ;) and you really would be helping.
