Unfriended [May contain spoilers]

[INTRODUCTION]
I went to see this film last night. It was the first film that I have seen in about two weeks and so I was really looking forward to it. I didn't have any idea what it would be other than having read a two line description. The online concept intrigued me and I was interested to see how it would play out.

H@me [may contain spoilers*]

[INTRODUCTION] I went to see this with my niece - the same one I saw Spongebob with! We actually went straight after seeing Spongebob as we were so disappointed and hoped this would cheer us up. I had heard mixed rumblings but we gave it a shot. I had also seen the trailer and thought it looked like a very similar premise to Lilo and Stitch - a much under rated movie if there ever was one!

Spongebob Squarepants [may contain nuts*]

[INTRODUCTION] I saw the trailer and thought it looked ok. I quite like what I have seen of spongebob. My niece (age 9) wanted to go and see it too so we did.

Furious 7 [may contain spoilers*]

[INTRODUCTION] What can I say? Does it need an introduction? Well, I have watched all of the films in the franchise and as soon as I heard that 7 was to be released I was very excited and straight away booked tickets to see it in the 4DX cinema (this is where you have a moving chair and special effects). I knew it would be bittersweet after the death of one of its leading actors (Paul Walker) but I love the films and wasn't about to miss out. It was released on Good Friday and I was there for the first viewing and ridiculously excited.

Get Hard (*includes SPOILERS)

[INTRODUCTION] I saw the trailer and decided I would need to see this film. Not least because I am compelled to watch almost all comedies (the good, the bad and the ugly!) but because Kevin Hart was in it. The last movie I saw him in was 'Ride Along' which I really found entertaining and I have also seen him in the BET TV show 'The Real Husbands of Hollywood'.

Run All Night (*includes SPOILERS)

[INTRODUCTION] I hadn't seen the trailer for this movie and no-one had recommended it to me. But I saw the poster and that it had Liam Neeson in it and thought...an action movie with Liam Neeson, how can that be bad? That's how I came to be watching this film yesterday afternoon.

Still Alice (includes SPOILERS)

[INTRODUCTION] I had mentioned an upcoming trip to the cinema to a friend and they had said that they wanted to see Still Alice, the film that Julianne Moore won an Oscar for, and I remembered that it was about Alzheimer's. It’s a topic that fascinates me and I decided that I should try and see it whilst it was still being shown. Last Friday, I chose to go and see it, and I am glad I did.

Unfinished Business (includes SPOILERS)

[INTRODUCTION] I saw the trailer for this film on TV…I think! But all I saw was Dave Franco. I have had a crush on the guy since his Scrubs days and if he is in a film then I feel it’s my duty to at least go and see it. So when I saw him I knew that I would be seeing that film when it came out in the cinema and that was where I found myself last Monday afternoon.

The Divergent Series: Insurgent (*includes SPOILERS)

[INTRODUCTION] About three weeks ago, I was browsing Amazon Prime looking for something to watch when I cam across Divergent, and with no better choice I watched it.

Them & US: G is for Grimm!

I chose Grimm because it was the first to come to mind. Since starting this challenge I had remembered other shows but days after the post and so unusable so please bear that in mind :D

I began watching this on a recommendation from...could it have been Keebs over at Keebles World? Anyway, I started watching it and instantly liked it. Here is what IMDB has to say:

In modern day Portland, Oregon, a police detective inherits the ability to see supernatural creatures.

It is also given a rating of 7.6 which is pretty high and which I will agree with for now (as we have only seen one season or is it two?)

What I like
I like that it is based on Grimms fairy tales I like the vegetarian werewolf I like that it is a police drama first and sci-fi second.
What I dont like
The special effects. Some of the casting choices for guest appearances. That no-one notices that the detective liked to hang out in a caravan.
Other 'G' shows
Golden Girls, Growing pains, Glory Daze - I liked this a lot…

Them & US: F is for Friends.

The 'F' shows had a few more come to mind that I had seen and enjoyed but not many that were out and out favourites. However, I think this show is either a love it or hate it show and I loved it. I am not entirely sure why, I think they made being an adult and living in a flat share look like fun! I always laughed at something but not really a belly laugh. Being me I had to have a crush on Chandler Bing :D

IMDB says...

The lives, loves, and laughs of six young friends living in Manhattan.

IMDB gives this show a 8.9 which (because I loved it) I think is fair.
What I liked
I liked the cast I liked that they all fit stereotypes so you could easily distinguish who was the OCD one, who was the ditzy one and who was the cool one. I liked that it was light entertainment and even semi-serious storylines never seemed too heavy This show knew how to do an over arching storyline
What I didnt like
The way it ended with everything being tied up with a big perfect bow That they could affor…

Them & US: E is for Early Edition!

Another letter with not too any 'E' shows that I watched. I used to like this show but the best bit by far was the beginning with the cat. Who doesnt want a cat that miaows when the psychic newspaper arrives? Yes, thats right...my choice is Early Edition.

IMDB says...

His name is Gary Hobson. He gets tomorrow's newspaper today. He doesn't know how. He doesn't know why. All he knows is when the early edition hits his doorstep, he has twenty-four hours to set things right.

I should say that the IMDB rating is 7.4 and it in no way deserves this high a score (imho), I would give it a 6.1 and that would be about the right mark! lol Agree? Disagree?

What I liked
Like I said before I liked the cat and I liked the idea of knowing what was going to happen before it did and also that he was to rescue someone, thinking about it the storyline of how he becomes this hero is really good but I don't remember being addicted to it or too bothered if I missed an episode. The lea…

Them & US: D is for The Defenders!

This letter was particularly hard and mainly because I don't seem to have watched that many US shows beginning with D. It did however, make it easier for me to choose, and my choice was The Defenders.

Here is what IMDB had to say about the show;

Two flashy Las Vegas defense attorneys go to the mat for their clients.

This show was cancelled after the first season...CANCELLED!! It stars James Belushi and Jerry O'Connell and they definitely worked well together. I loved this shown and was disappointed to see it taken off air and replaced with another Law show but with a younger cast. I was disappointed and I still can't figure out why Americans didnt like it?! So please tell me.... IMDB has rated it 7.1 but it would score somewhere in the region of 7.4 from me. I personally, dont think it had time to develop and can only dream of them bringing it back :(

What I like The cast The setting of Las Vegas The cases The cast Did I say the cast?
What I didn't like Over-arching st…

Them & US: C is for Cougar Town

How many TV shows begin with 'C'! Sooooo many and I wanted to mention more than one! But I opted for Cougar Town. I remember when this show was advertised and I instantly thought....there is no way in hell that I am watching a TV show based on a divorced older woman dating young men her sons age! I hate the term Cougar or there is another one like Panther or something but both denote a predatory animal stalking and capturing her prey. Women are so far from that when it comes to affairs of the heart, even if they try to be, a little piece of them is effected. Men who do the same thing are Sugar Daddies....and its sexist!

Oh dear! That turned a bit ranty....but originally that is what I thought. But a friend recommended I should give it a try, especially as it had some of my favourite actors and was produced by Bill Lawrence (of Scrubs fame...I LOVE Scrubs!).

So I watched it, and the first episode did have Courtney Cox character with a younger man and her boyfriend ends up youn…

Them & US: B is for Blue Bloods

Now, as I mentioned before I am going with the first show that came to mind and it is Blue Bloods. Mainly because this is currently being aired and it is something that I watch and enjoy watching. I cant say that I am disappointed if I miss it but I haven't missed it yet!

I need to mention Buffy the Vampire Slayer as I loved this...who am I kidding I still love this :D and I had a cat in Africa who I named Buffy after it.

IMDB says Blue Bloods is;

Revolves around a family of New York cops.

Its brief but pretty much an accurate description, it has a rating of 7.2 out of 8000 votes which surprised me as Arrows was 8.2 out of 58000 votes. I prefer Blue Bloods and my rating would be a firm 7.
What I like I like Tom Selleck and would watch him in anything. I like Donnie Wahlberg from his NKOTB days and think he is a good actor who is underated. The rest of the cast are inoffensive and the actor who plays Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) provides the male eye candy.
What I didnt like I don&#…

Them & US: A is for Arrow

Arrow Ok, so on a whim I was spurred on to write a second entry for the A to Z challenge and I plan to do US TV shows (generally the first that comes to mind when I think of the letter as opposed to my favourite) and give you my Brit view. This series is called Them & US which is TV shows and US and my appalling attempt at a clever pun!

However, lets get it done...the first TV show that came to mind was Arrow.

This is what IMDB says about the show:

Spoilt millionaire playboy Oliver Queen is missing-presumed-dead when his yacht is lost at sea. He returns five years later a changed man, determined to clean up the city as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow.

and here is a lovely picture of the leading man who plays Oliver Queen (actor Stephen Amell).

Now, IMDB has given this a rating of 8.2. I would give it a 6.
I never knew of the actor before this show and admittedly he is quite easy on the eye and what I would call a pretty boy...and this combined with some actors I like such as Da…

Black Books: Series 1, Episode 4

Today, I prepared myself fully for Black Books, I bought a bottle of wine and drank a nice glass of it during the show. One single glass and yet I feel a bit giddy. I am a lightweight when it comes to drinking as I maybe have one glass a month on average. Anyway, this wasn't one of my favourite episodes but it still had some silly fun moments. As usual Bill Bailey was the source of greatest amusement.

Black Books: Series 1, Episode 3

Black Books: Series 1, Episode 1

Its been a year since I last watched the complete series of Black Books.  Black Books is a British TV sitcom. It ran from 2000 until 2004. I never saw the show originally when it began, as that was when I was living overseas, but rather watched the repeat showings.  It is one of those comedy shows that you can watch repeatedly and however many times you have seen it or heard the joke it doesn't lose any of its comical effect.

To make my life easier in the inside of the boxset case there is a brief description of each of the characters;

'Meet Bernard Black a foul tempered, drink fuelled and eccentric bookshop owner who loves his books and hates his customers.'

Bernard Black is played by comedian Dylan Moran, and I may be biased somewhat but... I think he plays it to perfection, how he keeps a straight face I will never know. He has the perfect face for it too and a very young looking one in Series 1.

'Manny, Bernard's long haired and long suffering assistant, a breath…
