Whats 11 months between friends?

Hey there

I have spent a fair bit of the year on instagram, just because I try to avoid wittering on, but I miss this blog and although I need to tidy it up...it is one if the things I want to focus on more in 2020.

So lets get up to date...

Some stitchy finishes this year....

This was completely new - a pattern by Durene Jones - the idea is that it is a FFO stocking. It was a quick stitch and I loved all of it except stitching the white.

This was a new start and a finish this year, its Bothy Threads row of dinosaurs - i had some issues with this and made some design changes. It also needs to be fully finished along with the rest.

This was in a magazine and I want to say it was designed by Emma Congdon...? when FFO it should be an envelope to put your childs letters to santa in.

This was stitched for Halloween. It was taken from a magazine and when FFO'd is a 3D monster mansion. The original colours were greens and I made other changes. Hopefully, I will get some time to write the…

Who is up for some more dancing?

Morning,

On my last post we danced the night away because I had received a beautiful tree pillow in the Santa exchange that I done with Tiki.

Well, today she has posted that she has received my exchange! I am pleased as I was starting to worry that it wouldn't arrive.

The design i used was taken from a cross stitch cards magazine but I changed the colours (used the ones I had) and made it more sparkly.  I didn't opt for Christmas fabric as I have none in my stash (its shameful, I know) but I fond some that I thought was a rich enough colour.  I am happy with how it came out but obviously wish it was a lot better but all things I have learnt for next time! providing I do another one - it was hard to get an exchange partner this time. So if anyone would be interested in doing one in the new year then drop me a line :)

So, without further ado I will show you some photos I took before sending and if you like you can pop over to Tiki Stitches and see her photos.

On a not so happy note..…

Who'd have thought it

After finishing the horse on Tuesday night, I decided to dedicate Wednesday to other things.  Of which I was unable to do any of them!

I couldn't find my advent calendar :(
I didn't fix my printer :(
I never sorted out quiz questions :(

I did spend a day with my sister and nieces :)

When they went home in the evening I read some blogs and signed up to theme-a-licious! After that, I was sort of bored...started twiddling my thumbs...and decided that I could probably stitch something, and picked up a magazine freebie to stitch. I did this whilst watching Christmas movie channel! I love Christmas :) I haven't quite finished but here is a progress pic. I hope to finish it today after I have been to a couple of nearby stitch shops :)  Then I will finish off my Santa exchange so that it can be posted off tomorrow! I know some people don't like these but  these kits are pretty good - as they come with all the felt, ribbon, buttons, aida and thread etc. that you need to make the orna…

Last night

Hi all,

Last night I decided to pick up with doing some more work on the horses.  I had stopped for a break because I had gone wrong.  I know there are people out there who would have undone it all but not me! I did undo some when I noticed I had gone wrong but then I went wrong and thought, oh well. Then I carried on.  I don't think the error is too obvious at the moment and when it is finished and the backstitch is done it shouldn't be noticeable at all.  It has made me think that I should be more methodical. I don't mark the fabric and I don't colour in the pattern which I imagine are both preventative measures.  I much rather prefer to think of my piece as unique (who am I kidding) and unlikely to be the same as anyone else's - even if they stitch the same pattern.  I was originally thinking that I would finish the Geisha but decided on the horses as the Geisha doesn't have a deadline.

This is where I am currently up to.  I am not working this week so I am ho…

My prizes and princesses!

I just pressed buy now on my computer! It appears that I have just bought two more books!

Scandinavian needlework and Made in France....

I really really really really really must have needed them :)

On another note the prize that I won in Donna's giveaway arrived.  Luckily it didn't have to come too far :)

I have spent most of today at my nieces christening and have arrived home to a lovely package.  My sister expresses her craftiness in cake making and she made her daughters christening cake....

Each smoke cloud coming from the train has a letter of her name in silver, she is called Ebony and here she is..

She has two older sisters, Layla (5) and Naomi (2) and here they are...
And here are some pics of my giveaway prizes...

I am a very happy bunny today :), and don't forget to put your name down for the stitch St nick exchange (deadline Sunday!)

Stitch St Nick Exchange

Hello!
I hope everyone has had a good week, I really do have to put my knitting needles down and read some blogs - but whilst I am motivated I need to seize the opportunity.
On a cross stitch related note...I mentioned amongst other things that I hoped to do a Christmas exchange after enjoying my first exchange (with Sara) so much.  I hope some of you will join us! I am happy to just have an exchange with one other person, but the more the merrier. At the moment, it is me and Tiki :) It is Tiki's first exchange and she has suggested Santa themed items. Which is fine with me.  So who else is going to join us....come on...you know you want to!
I have never organised one before and I am not sure what the usual rules are but my only rules are: You must post your item by the 1st December (that way there is a chance we will all get ours in time for Christmas). It must be Santa themed. You mustn't post photo's of it until the person has received it.If for some reason you have to drop o…

Wool takeover bid!

I had a great weekend but it wasn't a very successful IHSW for me. I stitched absolutely nothing! So no update :( I must do better in November! So from from Friday to Monday it was a craft free life for me - until yesterday afternoon that is.

I had bought some wool with the vouchers I had been given for hobbycraft and was practising different patterns.  I wanted to knit a scarf for a friend (something nice and simple) and I found something I liked.  I haven't yet finished but as I have used chunky wool it should be finished in a couple of hours.  I do really like the effect and might make  a couple more in different colours. What do you think?

I have also wanted to learn how to crochet, which is something I have never done.  I may be slightly crazy but I have joined a CAL (crochet-a-long) on Stitchy McFloss blog and it starts mid-November. I am not entirely sure if it is for beginners but I thought it would be a fun challenge. So please whether you have crocheted before or are a…
